Product Description

  • The drug product Bernamin is a wound healing and antiseptic cream. This drug accelerates the healing of chronic wounds and burns, heals wounds, and reduces the likelihood of scarring. This product consists of two active ingredients: silver sulfadiazine and epidermal growth factor.

What is Bornamin used for?

  • It is used to repair diabetic foot ulcers of grade 1 and 2 (according to Wagner's classification), types of burns of grade 1 to 3, bedsores and wounds caused by insufficient blood circulation, chronic and treatment-resistant wounds such as venous ulcers, wounds resulting from surgery to remove scars, as well as other surgical procedures that require skin repair and reconstruction afterwards. It is also used to prevent and treat skin wounds caused by radiotherapy, treatment with anti-cancer drugs, and repair cuts, scratches, and abrasions.

Bornamine dosage

  • The doctor determines the amount and frequency of medication based on the size and severity of the wound.

  •  Generally, you can use Bernamin cream once a day.

Important points before taking Bornamin

  • The doctor or nurse will remove any dead tissue from the burn or wound. The wound will then be washed with sterile saline and dried with sterile gauze.

Important points when taking Bornamin

  • Apply a thin layer of the cream directly to the wound. You may need to take antibiotics along with Bernamin to prevent or control wound infection.

  • Protect the area where the cream has been applied from direct sunlight.

  • Depending on the doctor's opinion and the patient's condition, you can bandage the area.

  • If you wash the wound within two hours of applying the cream due to excessive bleeding or discharge, apply the medication again.

Side effects of Bornamine

  • Tell your doctor if side effects persist or become bothersome, including itching, redness, and pain, which usually do not require medical attention.

  • A very severe allergic reaction to this drug is very rare, but if you experience any skin reactions, swelling of the throat, face, and mouth, severe dizziness, and difficulty breathing, see a doctor immediately.

  • Tell your doctor if you experience brown, gray, or blue discoloration of your skin and mucous membranes, sudden weakness and lethargy, and dark urine.

  • Avoid using this medication if you are allergic to silver sulfadiazine, other sulfonamides, or any other ingredients in it.

Missing a dose of Bornamin

  • If you forget to take the medicine, take it as soon as you remember, but if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule.

  • If you wash the wound within two hours of applying the cream due to excessive bleeding or discharge, apply the medication again.

Cases of non-use of Borenamine

  • This medication should not be used in infants under six months of age due to the increased risk of kernicterus.
  • This medicine is not recommended for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Methods of storing Bornamin

  • Store the medicine in the refrigerator at 2 to 8°C and protect from freezing.
